New FOGhorn Email Newsletter on Its Way

The new FOGhorn, the FOGcon newsletter, is winging its way to your email box. We've had a number of technical issues with the newsletter recently, as you may have noticed. We're hoping the new Google Groups emailing list will make sending and receiving FOGhorn newsletters the pure joy it should be.

One of the issues we've encountered in the changeover is that some people haven't responded to the invitation, while others were automatically signed up for no email status. So we're posting instructions on what to do if your newsletter subscription has gone wrong.

If you're signed up but haven't received the newsletter, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you're logged into the account you use for the email newsletter
  2. Go to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fogconnews
  3. In the upper right-hand corner of your screen, you'll see the account name that's logged in. Just below it are two buttons. The one on the left shows a person and a gear to indicate My Settings. Click the My Settings button. A dropdown menu will appear
  4. Under My settings for this group, click the link labeled Membership and email settings. A window will open
  5. In the window, you will see your display name. Beneath that is a dropdown menu showing subscription settings ranging from Don't send email updates to Send me an email for every new message. Select Send me an email for every new message. As this is an announce-only mailing list, you won't be flooded with messages.
  6. Click Save

However, in some cases, the dropdown list from step 3 will show a list starting with My global settings. That means you are either not subscribed or not logged in to the correct account. In that case, follow these steps:

  1. From the email account where you want to receive FOGhorn, send an email to fogconnews+subscribe@googlegroups.com
  2. You will receive a return email instructing you to click a link to confirm your subscription. Do so
  3. Go to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fogconnews
