A Great Day for SF Fans

May 25 may be the ultimate holiday for readers of speculative fiction. It is Towel Day, when fans of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series carry a towel to celebrate the life and work of the late Douglas Adams.

May 25 is also celebrated as the Glorious 25th, when fans of Terry Pratchett commemorate the events of Night Watch and the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road ("Truth! Justice! Freedom! Reasonably Priced Love! And a Hard-Boiled Egg!"). It's also a fund-raising day for research into Alzheimer's Disease, because Pratchett has been fighting a variant of the disease for the past few years.

Finally, it's Geek Pride Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the first Star Wars movie in 1977.

Whatever your fandom or fandoms, have a glorious May 25th.
